Westside Robotics is a group of FIRST Robotics teams made up of students from the West Lafayette public school system. Our high school FIRST Robotics Competition Team 461, Westside Boiler Invasion, was founded in 1999 to help provide students with hands-on STEM, business, community engagement, and media experiences with the support of Purdue students & a variety of professionals from the community. Over the 20+ years that the program has been around, we've grown the program to include 9 upper elementary FIRST LEGO League Challenge teams and 4 junior high FIRST Tech Challenge teams to provide opportunites for our younger students to get access to these same kinds of experiences.

We are excited to share that after 24 years of leading the area in STEM education outreach, Westside Boiler Invastion has won its first competition at Mishawaka and earned our 7th Impact (formerly Chairman’s) Award for our commitment to STEM outreach in our community. Our success so far has qualified us for the FIRST Indiana Robotics State Championship, and will quite possibly lead us to qualifying for the FIRST Robotics Competition World Championship in Houston, Texas. We are looking for community support to help pay for transportation & hotels. Attending the World Championships will provide our current students with a phenomenal opportunity to compete on the world stage and network with STEM leaders from around the world. Additionally, they will be able to attend a wide variety of educational workshops that will enhance their ability to teach younger generations in the Greater Lafayette area. Your support will not only benefit our team, but will also fund future STEM outreach initiatives in the Greater Lafayette area.
